(The Hypnotic Power of) cHikKenZ
Lyrix & Muzak by Jim Mortimore (& the Chikkenz)
Day is done
Night coming down
People fear
Night is here
Moon coming up
People run
Under dustbins
In the burned out shops
Down the alleys
All the dead are cops
Couldn’t stop them
Just the damned walk here
(And the chikkenz)
Here they come
Finger likkin chikkenz
Struttin down the street
With their beaks a-clikkin
Claws a tappin, wings a flappin
Beady little eyes blasting us with their hypnotic power
Its our final hour
Getting hungry
Devil’s riding out
Lunchtime Sunday
Gonna scream and shout
There’s no fury
Like a chikken spurned
Babies over easy
Humans lightly burned
(Man those chikkenz are hard)
Here they come
Finger likkin chikkenz
Struttin down the street
With their beaks a-clikkin
Claws a tappin, wings a flappin
Beady little eyes blasting us with their hypnotic power
Its our final hour
(chikkenz clucking, a long drawn out scream of gut-wrenching horror)
Call the foxes
Oh – except – they’re all dead
Chikkenz killed them
Cos they knew they’d fight
For the humans
Even though humans hunt foxes with dogs which just goes to show how stupid foxes, humans and chikkenz really are
It’s the law of the jungle out there
Survival of the fittest
Nature red in beak and claw
Nobody gets out alive
(Except the chikkenz)
Here they come
Finger likkin chikkenz
Struttin down the street
With their beaks a-clikkin
Claws a tappin, wings a flappin
Beady little eyes blasting us with their hypnotic power
Its our final hour

Jim Mortimore UK
I've been writing music since I was very young, having abandoned piano lessons for a Casio VL Tone and two reel2reel tape recorders. I'm inspired by early Tangerine Dream and bleepy radiophonica, such as may be found enhancing 1960s Dr Who. I've written music for BBC Dr Who audio plays and live local performances. Delia Derbyshire, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Jerry Goldsmith are among my muses. ... more
